What
is the Friends Connect discount membership program?
The
Friends Connect membership program allows members of local
refuge "Friends" or refuge support groups to become
members of the National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA)
at a reduced priced of $15, a $10 savings off regular membership
dues.
Why
is NWRA offering this special opportunity?
The
Association believes that the future well-being of the National
Wildlife Refuge System is dependent on the support of local
citizens who work closely with and understand the role of
refuges in conserving America's diverse wildlife. In addition
to local support, however, the Refuge System needs a national
voice, one provided by the Association. The sole mission
of the NWRA is to protect, enhance and expand the National
Wildlife Refuge System, lands set aside by the America people
to protect our country's diverse wildlife heritage. To be
a powerful voice on behalf of refuges, however, the NWRA
needs a broad membership representing all 50 states that
shares our commitment to build a stronger Refuge System.
How
does the program work?
All
current members of Friends groups are eligible for a reduced
price NWRA membership under the Friends Connect membership
program. In addition, Friends groups are encouraged to offer
to their own new member prospects the same opportunity once
those prospects become official members of the Friends group.
Friends
groups are encouraged to offer this special membership at
the same time they send their own membership renewals. NWRA
will supply suggested language to incorporate into the appeal,
and even assist groups with crafting the appeal if there's
an interest or need. At the completion of the mailing, groups
will compile the names and addresses of those who have opted
into the Friends Connect membership program and send that
list (electronic or paper) with a check ($15 x #members)
to the NWRA.
Friends
Connect membership renewals will be conducted by the Friends
group and, just as with the initial solicitation, NWRA will
provide text language and assistance with developing renewals
as needed.
What
are the benefits of the program?
As
Friends Connect members, participants are entitled the same
benefits as regular members including the quarterly Blue
Goose Flyer newsletter, issue updates and special event
promotions and discounts, etc.
How
do we sign up?
To
