Nell Odom's Black Bayou Mud Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 stick butter (not margarine)
2 oz. baking chocolate (or 4 tablespoons cocoa)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour (not self-rising)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
pie crust

Melt butter and chocolate (or cocoa) in a 2-quart saucepan. Add sugar, flour, and vanilla. Stir until well blended, and add eggs. Pour into a regular 9-inch pie crust (not deep dish) that has been partially baked. Bake at 325 degrees for 20-22 minutes.

For extra flavor in your pie crust, start by melting your butter in your (empty) pie pan; then pour the melted butter into the saucepan and follow the directions from there. A store-bought pie crust is just fine.
