Timothy Bodeen As refuge manager for Midway Atoll NWR, Timothy Bodeen faces a variety of challenges, some due to the remoteness of the refuge, others due to the particular variability of its circumstances. Midway Atoll NWR is home to over 1 million nesting Laysan and Black Footed Albatross, which return to the same spot each year to nest. At this remote Pacific location, Tim is tasked with managing a complex infrastructure intended to accommodate biological research, environmental monitoring and response, recreational and historical tours, and seafaring vessel and airfield support. He works with refuge staff, volunteers, and Friends, and with the staff of the varied organizations using Midway for business or research purposes. |
