Friends of the Morris Wetland Management District

Friends of the Morris Wetland Management District work closely with refuge staff to improve community appreciation for the Morris WMD and to promote educational and interpretive opportunities such as the family-oriented Prairie Pioneer Days festival. The Friends have obtained grants and provided the hard work and dedication to organize a birding weekend, bringing birders to the refuge and demonstrating to the local community the economic value in conservation events. The Friends build mallard nesting cylinders and wood duck boxes for installation on waterfowl production areas and to make available free to local landowners who agree to maintain them on their land, thereby increasing community interest and involvement in wildlife conservation.
