George Scheil on duty at the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge

George L. Scheil had been an active volunteer at Squaw Creek NWR in Missouri for almost 14 years when he established the Friends of Squaw Creek in 2000. The Friends Group has since then focused on expanding and improving the refuges environmental education facilities and programs. A major accomplishment spearheaded by George from start to finish has been the successful development, funding and construction of an auditorium addition to the headquarters building. Other facility improvements have followed and have greatly improved the visitor experience.
