Elizabeth Losey Elizabeth Losey, now a volunteer at Seney NWR in Michigan, was the first female field biologist hired by the NWRS. In 1947 she began conducting waterfowl research fieldwork at Seney. Years later, Betty has recently completed Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Its Story, a meticulously researched and richly detailed history of the refuge. All profits of the book, sold through the Seney Natural History Association, will go to support Refuge education and conservation projects. Mrs. Losey continues to volunteer at the refuge, researching documents and compiling data needed by the refuge biologist and forester. Her attention to detail and avid interest in ornithology were a hallmark of her career and remain an invaluable contribution to her volunteer service. |
