David Govatski David Govatski's involvement with Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge in New Hampshire began well before it became part of the refuge System. A 300-acre area set aside to protect Cherry Pond and Little Cherry Pond has expanded to a wildlife refuge of about 4000 acres protecting many species of birds, mammals, and rare plants. Dave has mobilized the Friends of Pondicherry for a variety of ambitious projects. The Cherry Pond and Little Cherry Pond areas are now open year round to visitors of all ages and hiking abilities, after the addition of 800 feet of bog bridging constructed of materials that had to be hand carried at last a mile. Dave regularly patrols the refuge, fixing whatever he sees that needs fixing. |
